1st VERSE
Rushing home I had to see that tv,
Another school day at an end,
Mama sitting on th4e front porch asks me ‘Now what’s all this rushing for?’
Made me sit right down beside her, opened the good book by her side.
Then read to me her favourite poem, before I could go in, and watch tv.

Did you stop to smell the roses, that are growing by the gate?
Did you stop and catch the fragrance, or as usual were you late?
Will you put off till tomorrow, what you can’t do today, and stop to smell the roses, as you pass on your way.

2nd VERSE
Growing up my life was so busy.
Trying to make it in life was hard.
Rushing here and there I tried to find, some kind of peace of mind,
And time for mama.
When I did she’d be in the garden, 
Make me sit down for a while.
Mama would tell me what can’t be denied,
The faster you go in life, the less you see.

Now I’m old I know just what mama meant,
Those words she’d say I now believe.
That summer rose I’ll often stop and kiss, cause I know mama is , still close by me.
