The Russian President Dmitry Medvedev
has welcomed the announcement by President Obama
that the United States is shelving plans
for a missile defensive system in Europe.
He said President Obama had taken a responsible step
by abandoning plans to base long range interceptors in Poland
and the Czech Republic.
