[00:59.69]to an almost soothingly minimal aesthetic that’s also audible in Tycho’s
[01:07.64] third album, 2011s Dive. “Awake” is the first single from Tycho’s new
[01:15.28]LP out next year, and although Hansen still traffics in meticulously arranged
[01:23.14] guitar lines, this time the guitars take the lead instead of languishing in
[01:30.95] the background. Three different tonal patterns weave between each other with
[01:38.69]the symmetry of a double helix, with just enough white noise in the background
[01:46.58]for texture. Bright and clear, “Awake” is appropriately named and signals a
[01:54.31]promising development in Tychos musical style.
