[00:04.28]Not much chance, completely cut loose from purpose, [00:15.92]he was a young man riding a bus through North Carolina on the way to somewhere. [00:15.75]And it began to snow. [00:18.61]And the bus stopped at a little cafe in the hills and the passengers entered. [00:23.55]And he sat at the counter with the others, and he ordered, the food arrived. [00:28.89]And the meal was particularly good. [00:32.34]And the coffee. [00:35.44]The waitress was unlike the women he had known. [00:38.72]She was unaffected, and there was a natural humor which came from her. [00:44.63]And the fry cook said crazy things. [00:47.16]And the dishwasher in back laughed a good clean pleasant laugh. [00:52.37]And the young man watched the snow through the window. [00:56.66]And he wanted to stay in that cafe forever. [01:00.79]The curious feeling swam through him that everything was beautiful there. [01:06.62]And it would always stay beautiful there. [01:10.91]And then the bus driver told the passengers that it was time to board. [01:15.92]And the young man thought: "I'll just stay here, I'll just stay here." [01:24.20]And then he rose and he followed the others into the bus. [01:28.26]He found his seat and looked at the cafe through the window. [01:32.63]And then the bus moved off, down a curve, downward, out of the hills. [01:38.14]And the young man looked straight forward. [01:41.18]And he heard the other passengers speaking of other things, [01:44.22]or they were reading or trying to sleep. [01:48.28]And they hadn't noticed the magic. [01:52.19]And the young man put his head to one side, [01:54.24]closed his eyes, and pretended to sleep. [01:57.68]There was nothing else to do, [02:00.28]just to listen to the sound of the engine, [02:03.10]and the sound of the tires [02:05.60]in the snow
