Lady in Black |
She came to me one morning, |
qīng chén, tā xiàng zhe wǒ zǒu lái |
one lonely Sunday morning, |
zài yí gè wàn wù xiū qì de zǎo chén |
her long hair flowing in the midwinter wind. |
zài hán dōng zhōng, fēng chuī qǐ piāo yì de cháng fà |
I know not how she found me, for in darkness I was walking, |
wǒ bù zhī dào tā shì zěn me fā xiàn wǒ de, yīn wèi wǒ yī zhí zài hēi àn zhōng qián xíng |
and destruction lay around me from a fight I could not win. |
yī chǎng bú huì shèng lì de zhàn zhēng, sì chù de qiáng yuán suì lì |
Ah ah ah ... |
Ah ah ah ... |
She asked me name my foe then. |
tā wèn wǒ jiāng yào yǔ shuí zhàn dòu |
I said the need within some men |
wǒ shuō duì yú mǒu xiē rén ér yán, tā men bì xū |
to fight and kill their brothers without thought of love or god. |
lěng kù wú qíng dì yǔ tóng bāo xiōng dì men zhàn dòu, shèn zhì dà kāi shā jiè |
And I begged her give me horses to trample down my enemies, |
wǒ kěn qǐng tā néng gěi wǒ yī pǐ zhàn mǎ, hǎo ràng wǒ tà píng dí rén de zhuāng yuán, chóng fǎn gù tǔ |
so eager was my passion to devour this waste of life. |
wǒ duō me kě wàng yī qiè néng chóng tóu lái guò |
Ah ah ah ... |
Ah ah ah ... |
But she would not think of battle that reduces men to animals, |
rán ér tā bù yuàn kàn dào shòu xìng bān de tóng bāo xiāng cán |
so easy to begin and yet impossible to end. |
dāng chū nián shào qīng kuáng, qīng yì dì tà shàng zhè tiáo wú jìn zhī lù |
For she the mother of all men who counseled me so wisely then |
nà shí, tā yòng zuì zhēn chéng wú sī de ài, xún xún shàn yòu dì quàn jiè zhe wǒ |
I feared to walk alone again and asked if she would stay. |
wǒ hǎo hài pà huì zài dú zì xíng zǒu, wǒ bù yóu dì wèn tā shì fǒu huì liú xià lái |
Ah ah ah ... |
Ah ah ah ... |
" Oh lady lend your hand," I cried, |
ó, nǚ hái nǐ néng lái qiān zhù zhàn mǎ de jiāng shéng, wǒ qiáng rěn zhe āi shāng |
" Oh let me rest here at your side." |
ó, hǎo ràng wǒ zài nǐ de shēn biān xiū qì |
" Have faith and trust in me," |
wǒ shì zhēn chéng de, qǐng nǐ yào xiāng xìn wǒ |
she said and filled my heart with life. |
tā shuō zhe, yòng shēng huó de diǎn diǎn dī dī tián rù wǒ de nèi xīn |
There is no strength in numbers. |
shì nǐ dí zhēn chéng wú sī de ài, méi yǒu rèn hé qiǎng qiú |
I' ve no such misconception. |
wǒ zhī dào, zhè shì zhēn de |
But when you need me be assured I won' t be far away. |
rán ér dāng nǐ yào wǒ bǎo zhèng bú huì zài yuǎn fù shā chǎng |
Ah ah ah ... |
Ah ah ah ... |
Thus having spoke she turned away |
jiù zhè yàng shuō zhe shuō zhe, tā què zhuǎn shēn ér qù |
and though I found no words to say |
ér wǒ què bù zhī gāi rú hé wǎn huí |
I stood and watched until I saw her black cloak disappear. |
wǒ zhǐ néng zhàn zài nà, kàn zhe tā de hēi sè dǒu péng jiàn jiàn dì xiāo shī |
My labor is no easier, but now I know I' m not alone. |
suī rán lù yī jiù jiān nán, rán ér wǒ zhī dào wǒ bìng gū dú |
I find new heart each time I think upon that windy day. |
měi cì wǒ gǎn shòu dào nèi xīn de biàn huà, jiù huì jì qǐ nà gè hán fēng chuī qǐ de rì zi |
And if one day she comes to you drink deeply from her words so wise. |
yào shì yǒu yì tiān tā néng lái yǔ nǐ bǎ jiǔ yán huān, tán tiān shuō dì |
Take courage from her as your prize and say hello for me. |
nà nǐ yí dìng yào zhēn xī, yǒng gǎn dì gào sù tā xīn zhōng suǒ xiǎng, bìng xiàng tā biǎo dá wǒ zuì zhēn chéng de wèn hòu |
Ah ah ah ... |
Ah ah ah ... |
