The Fire is waiting watch it smolder |
While the wind carries us away |
Where dust collects the driftings over |
Near the fire dust turns to ash |
What men are we still |
Is the red ring where we'll meet? |
We're praying to the shadows |
Cut by light of fire |
This happy heart what blessed wonder |
Then the golden ring formed around her feet |
She found the stone to smash it under |
While the metal carved its name onto her skin |
This suffering child |
Gasping her last breath |
She'd broken off the shackles only to find she's caged |
Who'll cry for us |
Will no one ever know |
That the chemisty we hoped for was wrong |
History assures us that only God will ever know |
What it feels like to know what we've lost |
