Jaws started droppin' as them crops bowed down to the ground, |
And then leaves turned to brown, |
Dust a blowin' into town as the people rode out, |
Cause they were hungry as hell. |
And we just buckled up our belts and our purses, |
And had to start biting our nails. |
And all of a sudden came a sound like the end of the world. |
And then we heard that it was. |
Dirt turned to pavement as them hands turned over the dirt, |
And then the calluses faded away, |
As all them children, they started to work. |
And we could hear what they'd say, |
But it was static from the |
T.V.'s havin' its way, |
With out god fearin' kids. |
And then all of a sudden came a sound like the end of the world. |
And then we heard that it was. |
Milk from the kitchen just a keeps on a slippin' |
Down into my lemonade glass. |
And that first truck we ever did, |
Buy, keeps a getting a stuck in those vehicle jams. |
And that still smug horizon's blowin' smoke, |
Like it's bindin' its time while we are makin' its bed. |
And then all of a sudden came a sound like the end of the world. |
And then we heard that it is. |
Hey Jim, whatcha doing with him. |
I said I'm giving all my money to the police chief. |
