Again, unlike most comparable texts, "Expressing Yourself in English" does not formally introduce the verb to be until Unit 3. One hint for teachers and students alike is that students should not expect to be successful with examinations offered in the body of the text unless they study outside of class and memorize the dialogue that introduces each unit.
