[00:00.14] Narration: The weather cleared up, but there was a new problem .
[00:04.30] Richard: A big tiger shark came in.
[00:07.82] From your perspective, I think you could see him more clearly than I.
[00:11.23] It was so poor visibility down there that I could just make it out,
[00:15.13] but I could see it was a pretty big one.
[00:17.71] Mark: Visibility's gone down to about five feet.
[00:20.12] That's just not safe enough to dive with these big tiger sharks.
[00:22.81] So we're gonna have to call off the dive team. Very disappointing.
[00:31.44] Narration: The poor underwater visibility didn't seem to stop the sharks
[00:35.25] from finding their prey, giving John some concerns .
[00:38.64] John: I've got very mixed feeling about this,
[00:42.22] because I don't really want to see the albatrosses eaten,
[00:45.11] but that's what I'm here to film.
[00:47.26] You can't help wishing the albatrosses will get away each time.
[00:49.48] I sort of cheer inside when they do. There's a shark, right in the shallows!
[00:56.89] Narration: John continued to film the action.
[00:58.42] But it was another three days
[01:03.51] before the visibility cleared sufficiently to make diving safe again.
[01:11.19] After days of practice,
[01:30.87] Richard was finally getting to the birds ahead of the sharks,
[01:36.31] yet, still no success .
[01:38.21] Woman: What did you see?
[01:39.29] Richard: The albatross gave us the run-around for a while,
[01:42.50] and then he finally decided he'd had enough of us and flew away.
[01:48.66] Narration: But why didn't the sharks take the bird?
[01:51.26] Were they now avoiding the divers ?
[01:54.01] Doug: Whatever senses they're using,
[01:55.43] they've shown us that they want to stay away from us.
[01:59.74] Narration: Over the next two days,
[02:00.93] Doug's theory was confirmed,
[02:02.81] and Richard realised he had little to fear.
[02:06.74] Richard: The sharks are not interested in us.
[02:08.95] They're only interested in a slightly oilier substance
[02:12.21] in the form of a nice, fat, juicy albatross.
[02:16.31]
